The Luxembourg Delegation at the Reception given by H.E. Sheik Adil Shanfari

Official Visit to Oman

A small delegation of businessmen headed by H. E. Jean Asselborn, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg, and led by Mr Robert Dennewald, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, paid last week a visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

This visit is part of the Luxembourgish desire to develop and strengthen political, economic and trade relations with the Sultanate of Oman. Focusing on the potential mutually beneficial synergies in the field of logistics, ICT, Space and environmental services, meetings took place with the actors of the Omani economic world in order to discuss the possibilities of developing exchanges between the two countries. Minister Asselborn reminded the Omani authorities of the mutual interest in swiftly signing a non-double taxation agreement amended to the latest OECD standards, as well as modernizing the aviation agreement between the two countries.

H.E. Minister Asselborn and Mr Dennewald also met with the CEO of the Oman Sovereign Fund, Khalid Ali Al Yahmadi, and the newly appointed President of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Qais bin Mohamed Al Yousef. In order to ensure a better on-the-spot monitoring of the relations between the Grand Duchy and the Sultanate, Jean Asselborn presented to the Omani authorities the proposal of the appointment by the Luxembourg Government of Sheikh Adil Bin Said Al Shanfari as Honorary Consul in Oman.

A business delegation of Omani businessmen led by the President of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry will visit the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg end of June.
